Pink hair! La Riche Review

I've been wanting to dye my hair pink for absolutely ages and the summer holidays were the perfect opportunity! Originally I wanted to go a very light pastel pink, but of course that would be impossible without bleaching the hell out of my light brown hair. So instead I settled for a pretty mid-pink that didn't seem too bright or neon. The colour I chose was 'Carnation Pink' by La Riche. I bought three tubs of it from Amazon and it cost around £11, which I thought was reasonable. I'd give value for money a 7/10

It says to use two tubs for long hair, then I bought the third to refresh the colour when it starts to fade. It was very easy to apply, with simple instructions and didn't take long at all. The only thing I would say is that if your hair isn't bleached, I would say leave it in for 1/2 hour instead of the recommended 15 minutes. It didn't irritate my scalp at all! Another tip is to coat around your hairline with vaseline, as it stops it staining the skin. Because I did this I got no stains.

When it dried I was very pleased with it. It was a tiny bit patchy in some areas, but I think that was down to the way I applied it rather than the dye itself. The colour covered my natural mousy hair very well, giving a strong colour without the need of bleach. It smelt really nice and didn't dry out my hair too much or anything. So overall I'd give the colour and coverage 8/10.

I found that the colour itself faded quite quickly though. Around the two week period it had faded quite a lot, despite me using cool water to wash my hair and all the other tricks. I was slightly disappointed as it did say it should last for around 6 weeks, but at the same time it did last longer than many other semi-permanent colours. I used the 'refresher' tub two and a half weeks ago and my hair is still pink, but at the ends it's faded to a more orangey colour. I'd give it 5/10 for being long lasting.

After the refresher

Overall I am happy with my hair, but in the future I think I might go with another brand which is more long-lasting.
